The first pillow with the square inside the squares is a fun pillow from the Vogue Knitting on the Go Pillow book. We used Zara to make it. The pattern calls for a linen stitch. This stitch makes the stitches tight together so that a pillow will not show through the knitted fabric. It also gives the pillow a nice texture. You just need one ball of each color. The pillow is a little on the advanced side because you need to use bobbins.
The second pillow is the one that has four squares. It is knit in the Alpaca using a double strand of yarn. We used shades of grey and brown but you could certainly use bolder colors. Again, you just need 1 ball of each color.
Zara is soft to the touch and knitting with it is a joy. Zara is
ideal for baby and adult knittng
projects. The yarn comes in an extremely wide
range of colors perfect for
FairIsle and Intarsia knitting. It also takes
stitches very well. Aran
patterns look great in this yarn. Zara generally knits on a # 7 knitting needle. When knitting itwitha double strand you can use a #10.5 knitting needle.

Not only is Alpaca yarn one of the softest fibers next
to Cashmere, it is also extremely warm. Blue Sky Alpaca is 100% alpaca wool
and is available in several neutral tones as well as some rich, deep hues. Knitting with this yarn is wonderful.
You can knit this yarn using a single strand for a thin but luxurious feeling
sweater you can knit with a double strand on a size 10 or 10.5 needle. Alpaca makes for great hand-knit kids’ sweaters as well - our favorite is kids' knitting project is knit with a double strand of
