Spindles of Joy

The most exquisite spindles have arrived! Gifted woodturner Avi Wasserman has sent us several exclusive designs from Israel, and each one is a work of art. You must see!! One spindle is decorated with myriad unpolished semiprecious stones---turquoise, pearl, “and whatever I can get my hands on,” writes Avi from his home in Ness Ziona, a very old, small coastal town south of Tel Aviv.

Toby Roxane

The Yarn Company is thrilled to welcome indie knitwear designer Toby Roxane, who will come to the store on Saturday, June 15 for a trunk show and booksigning (2-4 p.m.). She is designing four exclusive patterns for us and we are very excited!!! Toby studied writing and art at Sarah Lawrence College and knitwear design at the London College of Fashion, and her designs range from vintage to clean & modern shapes.

Ann Weaver Workshop

Welcome to Ann Weaver and her brilliant “Color Theory and Log Cabin Knitting: The Albers Cowl” workshop, June 8 here at The Yarn Company, 10 a.m. to noon.

Whether doing Fair Isle, Intarsia, Stripes, or modular patterns, knitters are constantly faced with color choices. Learn everything you need to know about color theory, including lightness, saturation, hue, and complimentary colors. With her treasure trove of swatches and projects, Anne will explain how different colors interact the different interactions among colors. Participants will receive a personal color wheel, to help in choosing future color combinations!
