Rosie's Report # 40

Zen Yen Garden Trunk Show!

O bliss! Roxanne Yeun of Zen Yarn Garden has created five transcendental colorways just for The Yarn Company! The base is Serenity Silk Single (75% merino, 15% cashmere, 10% silk), which we already love for its heavenly feel and workability. These colorways are out of this world! They were created with a special dye technique in which the colors are painstakingly layered and balanced, resulting in one-of-a-kind delights. The skeins are not variegated, which would result in stripes, but knit up in a semisolid fashion to create marvelous colorplay. We waited all summer for this!

Roxanne started producing yarns part time in 2005, in Toronto. After moving to southwest Ontario with her husband, she decided to devote all of her time to yarn, working with locally sourced fibers. Roxanne quickly went from Etsy to her own domain; her husband has joined her full time as well, and is now her primary dyer. The team’s exclusive Yarn Company colorways are Berry Pistachio Swirl, Acid Pistachio, Crazy Berry, Fuzzy Smorgasbord, and Pesto Pasta.

On October 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., Roxanne will be at The Yarn Company for a Yarn Launch Party, and introduce yet another exclusive colorway, GI Jane. The brainchild of TYC’s Assaf Ronen, GI Jane reminds us our troops abroad and returned home, as well as of childhood action figures and Saturday morning TV--its hues are based on the army green used in M*A*S*H, with bits of bubble gum pink. (Go, Assaf!)
