Wild Thing—You Make My Heart Sing!

Just in time for spring! Robin Page, of Pagewood Farms, has made an exclusive yarn for The Yarn Company: Wild Thing is the loveliest novelty yarn, abounding in felted flowers. It is 100% wool, super bulky (about 5 stitches per inch max, on size 19 needles), and super sweet!

Robin has made Wild Thing in three color combos for us: natural (off-white) with turquoise, purple and gold flowers; turquoise with turquoise, purple and gold flowers; and black with black, gray and red flowers. A great yarn for scarf and cowl projects, it would also be amazing worked into a throw. Thank you, Robin!

Pagewood Farms uses fair-traded yarn from Uruguay (from a ranch that has been in the same family for generations), then hand-dyes, felts, and finishes it in California.

Based in San Pedro, Robin has a degree in music from the California Institute for the Arts, where she majored in harp performance. Spinning was originally a hobby. As a product designer for a giftware company, she traveled lots, and sold her homespun yarn to stores along the way. When the economy took a dive, retailers had to shy away from her high-quality but not inexpensive yarns, so Robin took up hand-dyeing, and found her niche—especially when she was laid off from her designing job. Now with a warehouse full of gorgeous yarns, and the help of San Pedro artisans working from their homes, business at Pagewood Farms is blossoming.
